Weekend Whine...and Giveaway tease!

Ahhh....
Gotta love a long weekend right?
Normally I would say yes, but this weekend I have nee buried in fabrics and clay pumping out Christmas orders and orders for the shop.
We did however manage to fit in a family meal for 9 of us here at home and a BBQ today so all wasn't lost to work.
These images have been in 'the file' for ages and have me wanting to get outside and pretty up our entertaining areas, but it will have to wait a little longer.
So I will have to be satisfied with looking for now!

On another note, yesterday was Halloween as you are all aware. Not a big issue in our home and we don't do anything to celebrate this.

There was something HUGE on Halloween that happens EVERY year that we do celebrate though and this year was even bigger......my Dear Dads 70th Birthday!!!!

My Dad means the world to me and I was sad to not have been with him and my family on the mainland celebrating this and had to be happy with a phone call with him. It was so lovely to hear the rest of the family gathered in the background all enjoying my Dad's special day.

My Dad is such a wonderful Man and if our boys could grow to be half the man he is I would be so proud and happy...love you dearly Dad and cant wait to see you soon!
So, even though I was very busy with the Shop. I did have a lovely weekend.

Phew! Now I need a sit down I think to do something just for me =0) ...and something for all of you.....GIVEAWAY IS COMING!!!!
Isn't this room the perfect colour palette? I adore the sofa.
See you soon to announce the giveaway =0)

Wedding Styling by Me

The Bride and Groom.
Saturday was a perfect day for styling a wedding, beautiful sunny weather and warm.
The day went off without a hitch and after hearing me babble on about it for the last while, I thought I would show you the photos of what went on.
BEFORE
Here is the reception venue, well what I started with anyway.

AFTER
And here it is after it was dressed for the day, well a bit of it anyway.
The venue is gorgeous with the most brilliant of water views...and the fact that it was all white was a great canvas to work with.

This is the table that greeted the guests. I had set up the guest book and some cameras so you could take a photo of you and your partner, which will be developed and stuck in the book alongside the comment from each of the guests. I also re-used one of the church pew bunches to lay on this table. It is the bunch of native branches with the glass heart and ribbon (I have just realised I didn't get any shots from the church, so once the real photos come back, I will post them). A little white lantern and one of my soft gold coloured antique jugs (that went wonderfully with the brides gown) that was filled with Irises, Daisies and twisted willow finished of this table.
Here is the gift table...with a view!
I made a large wreath out of the twisted willow and tied the Brides favourite heart with some soft gold organza ribbon and tucked in one of my clay tags that said 'thank you'. Also, one of the pew bunches was placed at the bottom of the wreath with another soft gold jug filled with the flowers and a little white lantern.

It all worked so well together!!
The tables were arranged with glass vases filled with Irises (which is what the Bride carried), Daisies (the flower girls and grooms flowers) and willow. I also added bowls of pink (a Brides fave colour) and white marshmallows so the guests could have a little nibble between courses. Eight glass tea light jars surrounded the vase for warmth...and seeing it was a lunch time wedding there was no huge need for lots of candle light- but its always nice to have some.
Hearts was the theme along with gold and purple, so I made up clay hearts and hand stamped each guests name and a small heart onto all of the place tags and tied a thin purple ribbon on each. This became the gift for each person to take with them.
this was the Brides' setting. The menu which was printed in the font from the invitations was placed under each plate.
Here I am with my lovely friends (from left) Krista, the Bride- Bernadette, me and Narelle. It was such a lovely day and I thank Jason and Bernadette for letting me be such a big part of their special day.
.....now I can rest!

Channelling The Great!

Off to view the Church and reception venue for the upcoming wedding I am working on in a minute...so I am channelling Atlanta Bartlett's talent to help. These pictures are from her web store Pale and Interesting.

Love the scissors...and of course the Hydrangeas!
A great pair- apples and wicker.
Wish me luck people, apparently the Church interior is a shocker!
I hope it's not too bad. Have a wonderful day.

Stunning!

via Once Wed
Just gorgeous!
The Chandelier, the Church with its beautiful Gothic windows, the sepia colour of the photo, the lighting and the fact that it is a wedding make me smile.
Have a great day,

Have You Ever...

Lapartie Events
...had so much to do, you don't know where to start?
Well that is me right now. On Saturday I am hosting an event, which I have to style also at our house (I can't say too much as the guest of honour reads my blog!). Not long after that is the Wedding I am styling. Our builder seems to have gone M.I.A and our bathroom renovation is still waiting...oh and my beloved vacuum has decided to shut up shop!!!
Then there is all the other things like filling orders for the shop, children's needs, workouts (which keep me sane) and my ever loving and supportive Husband to tend to (which are all saving graces in my day). The fact that I will be getting re-certified as a fitness trainer soon just adds to it all. Not that I am complaining...but where do I start.
I have been working out final details for all of the above and I am sure once I have the weekend over it won't seem like so much to do....wish me luck.

It's back & I am into it...

unknown
...the mojo I am talking about! I have a mountain of projects I have to get done and I thought I would share my project list with you. I have to....
1. Get most of the details for the Spring Wedding I am styling sorted and underway (I can't wait to show you all this one, it's going to be beautiful!)
2. Re-stock the store now that my clay has finally arrived.
I am about to do my Christmas range of tags which do well and also make some more of these new tags (above) as a regular line....
I made these covers recently for a custom order, and I love them so much that I am thinking of making these a regular product also...what do you think? They are a longer, squat pillow, like a breakfast pillow. I think they are lovely.
3. Decide on the permanent art work for this wall in our living room. This one I whipped up in an hour out of left over house paint from the front door...which leads me to...
4. Have these sofas in our living room covered.
The plan is for white denim (which I am finding really hard to find). I have spotted a very light linen coloured denim, which has a lovely 'grain' to it...I am deciding what way to go. I think this canvas needs a plain colour under it to work. The pattern on the sofa at the moment worked 6 years ago when we bought it...not now!
5. Paint our kitchen cupboards...inside and out.
I would love to do the inside a really soft teal colour, so when you open the white doors you will get a little hint of colour as all our crockery is white...and the shelves are to.
The back of the cupboards are a beaded wood finish, so I think it would work well.
Anyway...better get started.
Oh, I promise to do a post with all the little details, colour names etc from yesterdays post soon.
Thanks for all your lovely comments and emails.

Wedding Ideas and GIVEAWAY!

I have found some of Tim's images that relate to today's post (don't forget to win 2 of his prints, leave a comment) about Wedding table layouts. As some of you know I am styling a Wedding in Spring, the brief being 'simple and stylish'. I am very excited about it and this print of Tim's, "The Embrace- French Cherry Tree" gives me inspiration to cut beautiful branches to put in glass fish bowl type vases as center pieces...very chic and Spring!
Tim Irving
This one called "White Tea Pot On Cotton Lace", is such a beautiful print and reminds me of a Brides delicate detailing on her dress...the fact that I LOVE white Ironstone probably helps.
Martha Stewart
I love this idea. If you are on a tight flower budget, you can use real leaves and fake flowers, and considering some of the faux varieties give the real deal a run for their money, I think if you select your faux flowers carefully you can pull it off.

Martha Stewart
It looks stunning all together and if I hadn't have told you the flowers were fake, would you have guessed??

Martha Stewart
...but this has to be my absolute favourite idea. Little birds nests holding gorgeous Peony Roses and for the place holder, a mini version nesting one bloom.
I am going to try and replicate this and see what it turns out like with my Twisted Willow tree to show the client. I think I will add a candle somewhere though as it is indoors and what is a wedding without candles?
Don't forget to leave a comment to enter into the draw to win 2 prints from Tim Irving...there are 100+ of his vintage looking prints to choose from!!! It will be drawn on Friday.

Memories....

Tomorrow is our 11th Wedding Anniversary and I was looking through our album and realised what a tight budget we had to create our whole Wedding. So, I thought I would give you all a look at a Wedding done cheaply...but with style. This photo was taken in the secret garden we were married in. We hired for the weekend an old Manor on 2 acres and had the entire thing there. Interstate guest stayed in the rooms and had a full breakfast in the morning.
The interior of Gundarimba was beautiful. Stained glass doors, dark panelled walls and high ceilings just added to the ambiance. I even dressed there, which meant I didn't have to worry about being stuck in long weekend traffic and we only needed the one car to transport Mic to the venue...the car was a white Chev Impala that belonged to a friends wedding business.

My favourite photo with my Dad. It is a bit grainy as it is one of the small proof photos (trying to get the album to scan was a tad tricky).

another favourite shot with Dad.
Here is a better shot of the secret garden. The side the photo was taken from is where we were married and the guests stood where we are in the shot. I bought white floating candles from a $2 shop which were placed in the pond with white gardenias which were from the venue. The flagstones are amazing.

The cake was designed by me from a photo I had seen and changed to what I was after. If you do this yourself, you will be surprised with how inexpensive it can be. This cake was chocolate mud cake, which we incorporated into the desert with raspberry coulis and fresh cream...yum! The little cherubs that are supporting the cake were hired from the cake shop. The whole thing including making it and delivery was $180.00. For the one in the photo I seen it was $850.00!!! HUGE difference, just be sure and get a few quotes. The top layer was left for us...but someone ate it while we were on our honeymoon!
My bouquet was made by the local florist and the roses were from Berry, which is about 30mins from the florist. I think there was 20 roses and twisted willow and gardenia leaves and the big satin bow. From memory it was $120.00, which included the bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, grooms and groomsmens' flowers and our mother's corsages and a throw away bouquet. Pretty good I think. Flowers in the venue were in the price to hire Gundarimba.

We had a wonderful Photographer, Anna Blackman, but as we couldn't afford to have her for the entire evening, we had a faux cake cutting!!! Can you tell? I don't think so.

The inside of Gundarimba is amazing and this is the huge mirror in the main area which is flanked by stained glass windows. All of the chairs were period and originals to that era and our bridal table was just to the right.
Our little cherubs that I bought for $1 each! These were given to the women and I glued little halos of flowers around their heads and painted their hair shades of brown and the little cloths over their legs champagne to match my dress, and the wings gold. the boxes were made by my fab chief bridesmaid, Mel and I and were filled with 3 Ferrero Rocher chocs for the men.
The tables were set simply, but beautifully. We bought the candelabras very cheaply and dressed them with bows and soft gold candles to match the bridesmaids dresses.
I had a hairstyle in mind and knew where I wanted it done. The makeup artist I wanted, happened to work there as well, so I had a discount offered for the bridesmaids and I. This, along with the photographer is one thing we didn't skimp on. It is amazing what a good makeup artist can achieve, cause in reality...
This is me! fast forward 11 years.
Anyway for a stylish wedding that won't date, keep it simple, stick to a colour palette and don't go with whats in fashion, cause when you look back it will show. If you go with what you love and stick to timeless designs your wedding will look beautiful forever.
Happy Anniversary Mic...."you and no other, forever"

all photos, except last one, Anna Blackman Photography

...and you and no other

A friend of mine has ask me with some help for her up coming wedding, and I got thinking about what I would have done if I were getting hitched now instead of 11yrs ago. I know for sure I would have Hydrangeas instead of roses for our flowers. White for the Bridesmaids and the faded muted green, blue for mine, in a posy like this with a big wide ivory ribbon to trail from it.
invited ink
Invitations in an old style letterpress would be lovely to herald the occasion

maybe with a Hydrangea print on it somewhere to pick up the theme.

grainsack
Along the tables would be faded, vintage ticking for runners...

hannah nunn
...along with little tea lights and hurricane lanterns for ambiance...

...gifts for the guest would include something like these sweet little candles in lovely glass packaging. The flowers here are getting closer to the bouquet colour.

lh calligraphy
for the men, something like these compasses would be great. These are actually place cards as well!

bride to be
Organza or white linen chair covers with little pockets and single Hydrangea balls sticking out would be stunning, especially with an old style tag for the place setting.

riviera maison
Loads of lanterns to light the room up, also the entry way and the grass aisle (we were Married in a secret stone garden on a beautiful estate in Jamberoo NSW).

Anna Blackman Photography

Other than the flowers and a few small details, I wouldn't change a thing about the day. I think Mic feels the same way....anyway back to the real planning!!!
