SO Interesting....

The amazing Atlanta Bartlett has just released her new 'Look Book' for her store Pale & Interesting. It just evokes Spring and even though we here in Australia are into our Autumn, I can still pick out some images that could have been made with our climate in mind too.

This group is giving me loads of inspiration for the Miners Cottage makeover. As my client is a Man, I am loving the industrial feel of that light as well as the leather sofa...and the cupboard is just amazing. I have some hooks on an old palette board like the one shown to go in the kitchen of the cottage.

The pressed tin had me immediately and I love the rust showing through. I don't think there is anything in Atlanta's Look Book that I didn't like.

One of those days!

As far as days go...today I should have stayed in bed!!!

Our littlest munchkin was sick, and while he laid and slept on the sofa most of the day,Beach Studios
I played catch up on my mountain of jobs and orders, while feeling a little queasy too.
To top that off, there is something going on with our computer and it is going sooooo slow.
Hopefully tomorrow will erase today.

Cafe Style

Today, after last nights post, I have turned my sights on to the logistics of creating this barn "pop-up store". I know these pictures don't relate to this but I have had a few cafe influenced pictures saved for a while and thought I would share what I would love to have if I had a cafe.

The one above is perfect...all white, beaded boards and comfy wicker chairs. Their would have to be a casual comfort to the air. I like cafes where Mums can feed without being judged, old people can access everything and children can be themselves (and entertained in a small kids only space fill with games).

These banquet seats have always been something I have loved...especially in a cafe setting. If it is tufted, even better. I would pass on the cow rug and modern shelving, but the colour of the fabrics and the bulkhead would be a yes for sure.

Kitchenalia in frames is such a cute idea for a cafe...after all it is what makes the place work! fresh blooms in jugs and chunky glass, not done by a florist, but plucked right from the yard would give a loved, unfussy feel to the cafe.

A small alfresco area, nothing to grand- small and quaint, would be ideal. I love the idea of old jars to hold flowers on the tables and market umbrellas (in white!) to provide the shade.

Channelling The Great!

Usually I am singing the praises of floaty white spaces with neutral palettes, but I have always had a love for warm, moody dark colours with the crispest white. It is a scheme that always looks classy and goes beautifully with wicker and wood. This Catherine Martin rug is a stunning example with the wood, white and wicker.

..and my favourite of the dark & white theme is this stunner! I can't wait to get to work on covering our sofa this way and accessorizing with the new scheme I have planned. I know some may think that this space is a little on the masculine side, but I beg to differ. Add a tall glass vase with twisted willow around the inside and a single bloom and candle and maybe a beautiful patterned cushion for the sofa and voila!!...a lovely space for man and woman to inhabit.
Anyway, I think it is what you make of the space. I could so picture me on this sofa doing my nails!!

Savour The Sun...

After a week of horrible, wet and cold weather, today we had a sunny day. I have thrown open the French doors and windows to give our home a good airing which has been lovely. These photos are to keep some sun and colour in my day. Source

Vincent Wolf always puts together wonderful spaces like this living room. I love the used of old wicker baskets and plates along with chippy painted pieces to give texture to a room. It looks so inviting.

Ah, and where would a sunny day be without a vase of fresh flowers picked from the garden? The idea of cherry blossoms in the bell jar is perfect. Lets hope the sun continues for a few more days.

Yay! Its My Birthday...

Atlanta Bartlett

Well today is my 33rd Birthday!! - I know some of you thought it was last week. We had a rather extended celebration this year. I am just doing a quick post tonight as our Family is about to arrive for presents, cake etc. I will tell you all tomorrow what I was given. I am so excited to be having some luscious cheesecake for a cake.

I haven't had anything naughty for about 6 weeks now as I have been trying to shed some weight...(6 1/2" from my waist so far). I just hope it tastes good!

Apologie in white...

I would like to apologise for my absence from everyones comment pages of late. It is not me to visit and not leave a comment, but as I have to finish off painting our doors and make up curtains etc I have been a little time poor...so I am making up to you all with these white lovelies.

Please be warned that the following pictures may make you want to head to your nearest paint shop for the biggest tin of white paint you can find for a full white out!

and who could forget the washroom. I know it is just for Laundry to be done in, but I think it should have a sense of you and your palette and a hint of luxury, like this Belfast sink. Let's face it, if you are anything like me, you spend ALOT of time in this space...and ours needs re doing.
Something else to add on to 'The List'!

I posted about this beautiful little seaside shack when I first started to blog. It is just lovely, all white, French inspired and uber luxe...for a shack!

I would love to take this little white palace and plonk it into our back yard, where I would while away my time (!) and create and just be with all this lovely-ness.

maybe this can be the blueprint for the office/studio space that I have always yearned for in our little nook out the back we call the 'Woodshed'. It's not any more, now it is our outdoor dining space. I sit in there and wonder 'how hard would it be to line this to turn into my sewing space and get our spare room back as the guest room'? Not hard I would think....add it to 'The List'!

My Virtual Beach House...

As some of you know I am consulting on a beach house makeover that is underway. While I have been digging through files of images for inspiration to suit the owners needs, I have been wondering if we were to ever get a little, or big beach house, what would be the elements that I would want. So, I thought I would take you on a virtual tour through my head to my perfect beach house from front door to back...

I would imagine it to be either faded grey shingles or white board on the outside, with wide verandas and a few dormer windows to really take advantage of the sea breeze...a wildflower meadow would be wonderful also.

As you enter, you would be welcomed by a small feature table with a simple, but beautiful mirror over it, to check your beach hair for foreign objects! Simple black and white photos of Summers past would adorn the wall. Definitely white washed floors for carefree living throughout.

This beach house will be used all year, and I imagine the feel in winter to be still stylish, yet filled with lots of touchy fabrics in colours that mimic the palette of the ocean surroundings, sand, pebble, white and hints of black. Of course there would be a crackling fire to listen to as wonderful background noise to accompany the waves rolling in.
Come Summer time, we would welcome it in by throwing the doors open, putting away the quilts and pulling out aquas, faded blues and greens and picking the wild flowers from our field which has come to life.

An all white kitchen that has some interesting features will be a pleasure to cook in. Bin pull handles on the drawers and small knobs for the doors in a brushed aluminium, loads of wicker baskets, wicker blinds and hints of fresh blue and white china here and there.

Just off the kitchen, a little sitting area or breakfast nook to take in the ocean life while you ponder the Sunday papers and have your fresh fruit and muesli would be sublime.
A wonderfully fresh beaded board bathroom, with either reclaimed flagstone flooring or lime washed wood would be perfect for sandy feet to be cleaned. Loads of wicker and simple finishes everywhere else remind you of where you are.

Still, I can't go past a white claw foot to soak a long days swimming away.

In my vision, Mason and Declan share a room (they have there own in reality). It will have a feature wall behind there beds of faded, vintage style maps, loads of navy blue and white, more wicker and simple white linen. These beds are divine.

I must admit, our own bedroom is what I could imagine here in this virtual beach house. Except there would boat oars above the bed or a really peaceful and calm beach painting with straw colour grass swaying in the foreground.

My perfect outdoor room. Imagine having carefree Bar-b-ques and a glass of wine out here? I would take out the can lights (down lights) and just have hurricane lamps, candles and a white washed chandelier in this space.

..and what beach house would be complete with it's own boat ramp?

So, now I have made my wish list, I just have to wish to the beach house god's to grant me this exact home!!

Blame The Convicts!

So, I thought today I would be able to show you our new French Doors, and Kitchen window...but NO! as usual the wonderful technical (sarcasm here) building prowess of the early convicts who built our home have failed...again! Our poor Builder was all geared up to put some doors in this morning...and hit a bump! Back in the 1800's when they used their thumbs held up in front of their eyes to see if something was straight, just doesn't work! S0 Chris (Builder) had to make up these little glass boxes to fix on the top of the doors as there was all sorts of dramas. This took up the whole day, so now he won't be back until Sunday. I thought, as I promised to show you some doors, I would show you these...

They are Brooke Giannetti's door's and they are divine. Ours will look similar to these, so we can all imagine together. At least I get to paint them while I wait for Sunday...oh Joy!

White Wonders...
