My Day...

 Each day lately is mapped out in my diary with the build up to Niche in 9 days time.

I thought I would show you my day today, just for the sake of it.

My diary holds not only events and appointments, but things which inspire me that I pick up while I am out and about and around our home.

Today it was the lace I forgot I had and some old wooden buttons

...off to 'work' I went...

       

after that it was straight to work on my new sewing machine.

I must say 1 step buttonhole is amazing =0)

then off to print a small pile of covers

pick up the loads of scraps from the floor

...my office is a mess right now

a small reminder why I do all of this

heat set the new, finished covers.

Then start the after school madness of reading, dinner etc.

A simple day for me today, but

I do love it all.

Creating a Weekend...

Finally!!

I managed to digitally print onto wood for rings which will be at the upcoming Design Markets.

I love that you can see it is a digital print with the pixels too.

This long weekend that just passed was a mix of creative and laid back - I needed both.

Loads of clay tags were made for Niche- All Wrapped Up, all piled up waiting to be finished off.

As well as some of these sweet long silver chained bird pendants (keeping one of these!)

Some feathered clay earrings

clay wrap rings on fully adjustable bases.

These are great, they actually hug around the top of the ring base, so no catching on anything!

Loads and loads of cushion covers

and some more little bird inspired clay earrings.

I am very excited about this Designer Market if you hadn't realised and also the fact that I will be featured on The Decorating Forum =0)

Market Makeover...

Well kind of.
When I bought this little beauty some time ago, she was a Maroon shade with a white marble effect...I know! But for $3 how could I not bring her home and give her a makeover?
The first part straight after I bought her was a undercoat in a washed grey to cover the Maroon
...and that's how she stayed...
until yesterday.


There were redeeming features I knew I could work with.
An old travel label.


from the southern part of Tasmania, which has oodles of charm.
and papered inside. Great for paint.
I gave her a few coats of a chalky white paint...everywhere!
Already she is looking amazing.

and as I am using this as display for my covers for the up coming Niche-All Wrapped Up Markets, I wanted it to not overwhelm my products and designs.

So a covering of brown paper was put over the dirty green original paper.
which I then stencilled with a little leaf design I came up with.

I didn't do the bottom of the case of the other sides because once it is filled with my cushions you wont see them. Remember it is a display piece.
I actually like the fact that one of the latches is missing.

and with one of my White Clay Tags hanging from it I think she looks much better now.

I will be using one of my Luggage White Clay Tags on the Market day though.

What a sweet lady she is now.

I feel much better now to be pulling together the ideas I have for my stall and will be starting work on another piece very soon...stay tuned.

The Method In The Office??

This year our littlest Man goes off to School and with it brings alot more time for me in my office amongst my vintage fabrics and loads of sewing bits.

So, the aim is to pretty this space up a little and I plan to start with these prints I have here. There are some others which I don't have frames for yet, but I really want the images to inspire me.


You remember I did make a start back around Christmas time with this mirror makeover?

Well I am planning to build on it and see where it takes me...kind of using my own "Method". The approach that I take to making my cushions.

Lets just hope it works for inspirational spaces!!

PS- Thanks to everyone for the wonderful support I received from my post the other day about The Method and my little diversion. I spent yesterday sewing so many cushions which you had ordered, enquired about etc trying to keep the shop stocked with them, but I had to admit defeat. I couldn't keep up...so thank you xx

I am so happy to be finally able to show you all and get your thoughts on my new jewelry line which has a woodland theme on a global level.

There is quite a bit to show you so here we go.

The above is a 3 dimensional pendant with a cute little bird on top of French script. As with all of the pieces in the range, they are coated with an organic, Lavender infused Beeswax to protect it...not from the shower but from dirt etc.

They all hang around your collarbone area which is a great spot for all sorts of shaped tops and dresses.

You may want to know that this was the ring in the "Sneak Peak" post I done a little while ago that you all guessed was everything from buttons to genitals!!.

Hand painted wood rings. All of the rings either clay or wood are on adjustable bases.

There are hand painted, organic formed pendants in earthenware...

Stamped and hand painted earthenware pendants...

...and a sweet little winged friend with soft white feathers in earthenware...

The brooch range is in soft white clay, protected by organic Lavender wax.

...a little bird with a stamped wing in china blue that reminds me of vintage china plates...

Each one is unique just like a leaf pile. It is on a silver finish loop necklace that sits at your collar bone and the ring has been done the same way on an adjustable base.

As for the brooch, you get to pick which ever one you want from the brooches I showed above!!

Sneak Peak part 2...

You know I have been hanging out to show you all my new range and I know it wasn't supposed to be released until the new year...but we are nearly there!!

Now, this isn't the main 'Ta Da' part of the range, but the new tag range...well some of it anyway.

The difference with this new range is that they are made with a very light grey Earthenware clay. It is just like stone and beautiful to work with. It is cured at very high temperatures

I have been focusing on Valentines Day and tags you could use for any day, any event.

This one above I am loving for Valentines Day, or a Wedding, birthday...you know.

Birds have always been my thing you know and I have created a Woodland range for this next year with lots of birds and little critters....all in earthenware.
A simple Love tag for the season of love...or anytime. Each letter is hand stamped with love too.
You might recognise this as my new logo, you would be spot on.
I love it and works so well on this tactile stony clay.

So, I promise in the New Year you will get to see the 'Ta Da' part of the 2011 Marley & Lockyer range. But, I would love to know what you all think of my new tags in earthenware???

Finally, tree lights...and some decorating at our place.

I played about with the camera settings on our old point-and-shoot and sussed out something called ISO which seemed to make capturing the tree lights a little better. It is still not up to the standard of some of the shots I see on your blogs, but hey...it'll do for me =0)

So, here is some of our Christmas decorating...
The tree, with a hint if fairy lights (at least you can make them out now). I mainly stuck with silver, gold and white with a little linen here and there.

Today has been so bleak and dreary that Mason and I hung out and watched a movie which is why the blind is down a little. It's not usually there.

I really do love this years tree =0)

...and these crocheted snowflakes I purchased from Imagination In Flight, which is a store on Made It! I think they are beautiful.
I also picked up these cute little crocheted hearts from Killiecrankie Farm

I got to meet the lovely Lee who is behind the gorgeous Christmas trees and these decorations while browsing the local craft market at Clarence Point recently and couldn't resist these - thanks Lee! The other white decorations are my clay Doves and some little clay hearts I made up.
This is what you are greeted with when you enter our home. Simple but lovely. I plan to add a bowl of silvery baubles to the mix when I get another moment. The pine was picked by the boys and I and tied with white ribbon...it smells divine! We put it everywhere.
At the other end of the hall is this little candle lit display. I tied the wreath with some vintage crocheted ribbon and brought out some of my favourite candles to gather here, as well as the Nutcracker toy solider Mum gave me a few years back.

I thought it looked bare without the Nutcracker.
Our trusty old Santa came out. The boys love this and always want to see what in the sack or under his coat!! =0)
Some pine wreaths with an organza ribbon look lovely on our French doors beside the tree.
Another new addition to our decorating this year is this cute little Scandi style Deer I picked up at Cocoon. It comes as a flat packed piece so you can mail it...should have bought some more.

I have kept the Kitchen mantel fairly simple this year. Pine branches mixed with white lights, some candles and those gorgeous French Iron candlesticks. I still have to hang the stockings yet because I changed my mind after seeing the pic I posted about a few posts back, so I have to make some more now.
I like it lit at night with the fairy lights on.
So, there you have it. A little sneak peak at this years decorating. There is more, but I was just happy to have been able to capture the tree lights, however slight =0)
