My head is pounding thinking about this barn store and I am sure you are over hearing about it so I am posting some shots that take me back to my roots of styling, decorating and of course, white, vanilla, cream......

The gorgeous Greet had this image on her blog, Belgian Pearls (a new fave of mine) a little while ago and I immediately fell in love. Probably a bit frou-frou for the direction I have gone lately...but gorgeous either way. It reminds me of an apartment in Paris with all of the decorative finishes and high ornate ceilings.

This is just me! matalasse linen, mirrored armoire, chandelier (I love them completely again!), white floors and white, white, white. I would love to have a nursery like this...not that I will be having any more babies...but one can dream!

Loving these two chaises covered in white with my favourite hint of soft grey and loads of texture. The canvas in the background is so beautiful.
All of the photos have reminded me what I am all about.

We had a single bed foam mattress laying around and taking up room, the cover of this was ripped too...so, I stripped it, laid it on top of the Chaise and with a bread knife, started following the sides of the Chaise. You can pre mark it with a pen, then cut if you like. Once it is cut, you can tidy up the edges with your knife.
Then I laid a piece of black and white ticking (I think it was 2 meters) over the top of the mattress and under. Then slip stitch the ticking together. Then fold the ends over like a present, with the ends meeting the sides for a professional look. Slip stitch these down at both ends.
For the old style look. I just pinched about an inch of the foam the whole way around the top while I stitched every inch or so...no measuring here! Once that is done, I stood back and thought about how many 'dents' in the middle of the mattress I wanted (which was 4) and with 3 pieces of white embroidery thread, sewed through the middle of the mattress (make sure you have band aids on hand!), back up right next to it and tie off at the top. This works better I found if you kneel on the mattress while you are tying to get that pulled in look.
That's pretty much it! Hope it makes sense. I don't know what the technical terms are =)
Last week I told you about the Chaise I bought from the local Second Hand Dealer for a song...here it is in its old glory below.
I seen it under a cover on the dealers veranda and watched until he put it in the shop. I love the carved detail (top photo) and little turned legs.
I made a ticking old style mattress for it, which was very simple.
and I have just bought this lovely
