Celebrations....

Well, Christmas has been and gone.
We had a lovely few days even though I had some sort of stomach virus, but it was still good. The boys got a few surprises from Santa like this trampoline and other huge presents and I got a new DSLR camera off Mic, so as you can imagine I have been snapping like crazy trying to get the gist of it!
Here is a little look at the start of the table setting for Christmas dinner. A vintage cut work linen tablecloth, white place mats, pale check napkins, silverware and a hurricane lamp mixed among pine and little white lights (which weren't on in this shot) which have little white pearl beads on wires that you can fix anyway you like.

I never did get a shot of the end result, this is where the photos of the table end. I kept it simple which made the day much more enjoyable.
I hope you all had a wonderful celebration with your families...we did.

Merry Christmas...and some old/new jars

The stockings are hung, cookies, milk and carrots are out and fairy lights are lighting the chimney so Santa doesn't fall down ;0) and the boys are tucked in their beds while we elves work to get trampolines etc built before we go to bed.
Oh, and look what else I found recently....

Some old Fowlers jars with the old tin lids at the op shop for $3.00!!! I will be heading back to get some more as soon as they re-open. They have popped up all over the house since I got them home and I added some little white battery powered lights. They are so cute.

See, here in the hall way with a little bird friend...

...and here lighting the way for Santa tonight.
More white hydrangeas to make the fireplace look special for Santa.
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who takes a little time to read my blog, support my shop and inspire me in some way. Thank you all so much.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and will see you all again very soon.

Hydrangeas and a French table...

As you know my Mum and Dad arrived to spend the Holidays with us and whenever they arrive they always come with goodies.
This trip they managed to get loads into their little hatchback including this French table which Mum picked up for $20! It was in a bad way with smashed glass inlay pieces and was gold, but Mum and Dad worked their restorative magic and this is the end result. I LOVE it!!
We moved it into the lounge room this afternoon and straight away I went to the garden to cut some of my favourite white Hydrangeas for my old zinc tub to go on top.
A bowl of silver baubles....

and some candles and it is ready for the season.

The legs on this are gorgeous.
Mum painted it white and Dad fixed the broken glass by replacing it with wood panels for the four sections. I think it is better now this way.

It is perfect for the space and goes so well against our 130+ year old floors.

Can you tell I am smitten with this lovely gift?
My Mum and Dad are legends at finding horrible furniture and making them gorgeous.
I will show you some other gifts they brought soon after the holiday break. I still cant believe they got it into the little car will all of the other booty they brought!!!
So, do you like my new coffee table?

all images taken at home this afternoon by me =0)

Bit more from home...

Hopefully you are all well on your way to being the hostess with the most-ess on Christmas day. I spent this afternoon wrapping presents and even managed to cut my knee on that serrated edge on the tape dispenser and now have a nasty cut there!!!
everything else is coming along and I did manage to notice that I haven't really posted many photos of things I have been up to lately....I do apologise, but I imagine you all understand right now. Here are some images anyway to tide you over until I recharge my camera batteries.
The boys wanted me to put a picture of their room in it. All I could show you is part of the mantle as the rest of the room looked like a toy bomb had gone off. They are quite proud of their mantle decorating as they are always watching me do the others in the house =0)

I love this Santa in our living room. The boys think Santa can see them through this, and the baubles on the tree!!! It's working, if they are misbehaving and I mention it, they quit straight away =0)
Its not much, but its all I have on my camera right now. I am too busy enjoying the season.
Hope you are too.

Christmas Table Thoughts...

Hey there!
With Christmas day looming I have started to organise our day. We are having 8-10 people here on Christmas Eve and 11 for Christmas lunch/dinner and this year my Parents will join us which I am so happy about. The table at Christmas time is something I enjoy decorating and this image always gets me inspired. Remember the wings I wanted? Well I just gave up, not like me I know, but I have moved on and put my creative efforts to something else. I do like the idea of little wreaths made from Twisted Willow though...hmmm.
How are your dinner plans coming along?

Slowing Down...

I am always drawn to this kitchen image at Christmas. It is always beautiful, but really comes into its own this time of year.
Ah...Christmas!! The time when I slow down a little and everyone else revs up.
My new range is coming along well and I am itching to show you...not long now =0)

Simply Christmas...

Not quite sure where I picked up these images from, you know when you are in a frenzied inspiration clicking stupor and you forget to add where it came from?
Yeah ones of those times.
This room is wonderful, white, wreathy, windowy and mantel fine =0)
Look at this aspect of the same home. Different room, but oh so lovely still.
Not too overdone on the Holiday styling, but still cozy and welcoming and not to forget, beautiful.

Another take on the simple Christmas scheme.
This would be perfect if you are spending the holidays at your holiday home, or shack as we call them here in Australia.
Strung dried orange slices and popcorn garlands and some red apples is all.
When your done, hang them outside and give the birds a treat too.

This is the best simple idea as well.
Old flower frogs used as card holders.
The gorgeous cards are making for a cheap and again simple display.
I really am loving this simple decorating theme this year.
Who needs fuss and fanfare?
All you need is a tree, fairy lights, your family and food.
...and maybe some presents ;0)

yep I made up some words in this post- sorry couldnt help it

Pale Christmas....

Pale, simple and easy decorating.
It really is the simple touches don't you think?

Wreath Love...

country living
What is it about a wreath?
I just love them, and not just at Christmas time either. I am happy to have wreaths around anytime of year...but at Christmas time the take on something special don't you think?
Hanging them in a window just says 'It's Christmas' to me.
I have always wanted to have wreaths in every window of the house but last year ran out of time as I was too busy, the year before our decorating was very sparse as we were painting inside and out. So this year I was determined to get something in our windows.
unknown
Love them from mirrors and this little window which I think I spotted in Country Living.

So here you can see I managed to get some on our living room French doors and I couldn't be happier with how they look here.

This little sweetie is hanging from the hallway French doors. There is another one opposite.
Now, I know this is not technically a wreath, but I love this bunch of fresh pine hanging in our Kitchen on the mirror my Dad made.
I even managed to get some of these bunches of pine in the French doors in our bedroom, the boys bedrooms and our guest room windows.
They smell amazing when the warm Summer sun shines on them in the morning. I have noticed I will have to make new bunches before the day though. They are starting to loose their fresh look with the hot Australian sun blazing on them each day.
oh well. I am determined to have those wreaths in the windows.

PS-thanks to those who had a go at guessing what the item was in the last post. I will be showing you all in the new year what it is when I launch the new range =0)
...some of you are on the right track-others WAY off, but it is very funny reading what you have guessed.

Sweet Paul has some amazing decorating ideas for dining and this one above is lovely. Graduation dinner perhaps?
I would mix some pine in through the books, some tea lights, and.....

Finally, tree lights...and some decorating at our place.

I played about with the camera settings on our old point-and-shoot and sussed out something called ISO which seemed to make capturing the tree lights a little better. It is still not up to the standard of some of the shots I see on your blogs, but hey...it'll do for me =0)
So, here is some of our Christmas decorating...
The tree, with a hint if fairy lights (at least you can make them out now). I mainly stuck with silver, gold and white with a little linen here and there.

Today has been so bleak and dreary that Mason and I hung out and watched a movie which is why the blind is down a little. It's not usually there.
I really do love this years tree =0)

...and these crocheted snowflakes I purchased from Imagination In Flight, which is a store on Made It! I think they are beautiful.
I also picked up these cute little crocheted hearts from Killiecrankie Farm
I got to meet the lovely Lee who is behind the gorgeous Christmas trees and these decorations while browsing the local craft market at Clarence Point recently and couldn't resist these - thanks Lee! The other white decorations are my clay Doves and some little clay hearts I made up.
This is what you are greeted with when you enter our home. Simple but lovely. I plan to add a bowl of silvery baubles to the mix when I get another moment. The pine was picked by the boys and I and tied with white ribbon...it smells divine! We put it everywhere.
At the other end of the hall is this little candle lit display. I tied the wreath with some vintage crocheted ribbon and brought out some of my favourite candles to gather here, as well as the Nutcracker toy solider Mum gave me a few years back.

I thought it looked bare without the Nutcracker.
Our trusty old Santa came out. The boys love this and always want to see what in the sack or under his coat!! =0)
Some pine wreaths with an organza ribbon look lovely on our French doors beside the tree.
Another new addition to our decorating this year is this cute little Scandi style Deer I picked up at Cocoon. It comes as a flat packed piece so you can mail it...should have bought some more.

I have kept the Kitchen mantel fairly simple this year. Pine branches mixed with white lights, some candles and those gorgeous French Iron candlesticks. I still have to hang the stockings yet because I changed my mind after seeing the pic I posted about a few posts back, so I have to make some more now.
I like it lit at night with the fairy lights on.
So, there you have it. A little sneak peak at this years decorating. There is more, but I was just happy to have been able to capture the tree lights, however slight =0)

Wings and a GIVEAWAY!!!!!

My wish for Christmas dinner this year is to have some of these wings on the backs of our chairs. I spotted some just like these in our local Myer and went to see how much they were and guess what?...display only. Hhmmm! SO now I am trying to think of how to make my own version look as good as these ones....or I will head to the costume store to see if I can find some if I run out of time.
On another note...
If you would like the chance to win some of my clay tags, head on over to Le's blog where she is giving away some of my Christmas tags
All of the details are there and you will enjoy the lovely Le's takings on all things Interior.
..and have a wonderful day.
