Nancy's...or is it??

I love this home. It just screams warmth, even though most of it is white.
It belongs, well belonged, to Nancy Fishelson. Now, I believe it belongs to Brooke's friends. Check her blog for photos of it now.

Nancy collects vintage Birdhouses, and this cute one is in her room. My Dad (oh, Mum and Dad turned up by surprise for a visit from the Mainland to spend Xmas with us) just made me a whole heap of Birdhouses that I am going to age. Hope they look as good.

Beautiful little arrangements of these Roses are found all over Nancy's home...
they come from her garden.

The Sun room is splendid. These plank seat chairs where her Mothers.
The steeple-like Birdhouse is beautiful.

Most of the vintage furniture Nancy has picked up has this very subdued yellow tone to it,
almost like Swedish furniture. I love it. It is a great friend to all the white, and gives the whole house a textural contrast.
This lamp base was once an old baluster from a staircase.

Another fine example of the vintage yellow toned furniture is this little unit in the Master bedroom. The candelabrum is another vintage find and pairs easily with that gorgeous ceiling tin framed mirror in the same family of colours as the unit and roses.

Kitchen love...These bricks on the floor were rescued from an office building. They look much happier here I bet. She put to use old wide plank flooring as the counter tops for 'something different'.

...oh, Bathroom love too! It is clean looking, not clinical,
full of vintage stunners and simple cotton voile.
Once again, this is a fine example of Nancy's work...even if it was her home.

Wet French Knickers!!!

...that's what nearly happened when I seen this Home owned by the fantastic Gaynor Groome, who owns the even more fabulous 'Shades of Pale' in Sydney.

I have so many great ideas from this space for our impending reno. I am loving the Spanish legs on this table and those cute little wreaths. Just divine. I bet there will be some merry clanging of glasses in here over the festive season.

Those pewter-finish cast iron stools came from a French bar...I need to find one Pronto! The colour of the cabinets looks so nice against Gaynors custom mixed wall colour..so fresh and beautiful. Tracey from Porchlight Interiors has a thing at the moment for black Kitchens...I wonder if she peed too!!

A fabulous use for an old garden urn. Gaynor can turn anything into a lamp, and has done so here with this French candlestick.

There are those Spanish legs again. I love her sense of style...not over styled or forced, just naturally beautiful...and she is not formally trained either.

This room is stunning and the bed is a star player. The fan on the sideboard is a piece of art in its self.

I didn't even notice the great lamp that Gaynor made from a French Fire dog. The first thing I saw was the suitcase (I have a thing at the moment)...tut tut!!

Christie's Ad or what?

Ahh! Belgian Linen sofa, crystal drop Chandelier and a fabulous Armoire just make any room don't you think? I could be inspired in here for days.

Another of Gaynor's lamps, is this one made from a wicker wrapped Demijohn. I love this sideboard and blogged about the exact piece in one of my first posts...what is wrong with Santa these days??

You are welcomed to Gaynor's' home by this fabulous display tressel table which is topped by an old elm warehouse door. The wicker baskets hold their wine. The candlesticks are made from Victorian cotton reels. Love the lamp base.

This magnificent basket once carried grapes in a vineyard at harvest.
I have been SO inspired by this home, that I am saving all of these pictures to hang on my inspiration board so I can see light at the end of our dusty reno tunnel. I hope this will see me through and keep me on the path of a dream.
Have a fantastic weekend, Ness xx

Rooms that make me go mmmmm!

I would love a work space like this. Pure, simple, stunning and thought provoking with plenty of natural light and a fabulous wing chair in Linen. The silver French Lamp works well to give a bit of sparkle to the white space along with the silver light shade, which on my Computer looks like a colander!!! That rack on the wall is a fantastic idea as a file. LOVE IT ALL
While I am on the work room idea. I found this recently at An Angel At My Table blog and then just about died when I found out this is in Mari's Carport/Garage!!! Note to self * build a carport like this to have as my workspace with all the items shown included * LOVE IT ALL TOO!
Ah, Tricia. A favourite Designer from way back. I love her long island home and have pinched loads of inspiring ideas from this project. Note to self * look for an old Priest collar to put in a frame like what is on Tricia's mantel * LOVE IT

Deep breath...what is not to love about this room? I adore the display on top of the small cupboard with the sign tucked in behind the magnificent display of white Lilly's, the dress makers form in black as an anchor for the room, the floaty curtains on the cute windows, the lovely old shelf supports used in the doorway......
LOVE IT ALL!! :))

Renovation Inspiration...

With all of our thoughts going to our newly planned Veranda and French Door reno, I have been looking through some of my favourite designers projects I have saved for inspiration, and came across these by Nancy Fishelson. Since we plan to go all white inside I want to keep some texture and contrast by adding vintage signs and furniture pieces...like this.

Ah! The white Kitchen..finally I have made up my mind about the colour. I have always planned on a sign above our Kitchen window to break up the large space between window and ceiling. I love this room...very user friendly and not too precious, even though it is all white. Love the milk glass shades.

Nancy's room is beautiful. Every surface is is some shade of white and looks loved...not fussed over, which is SO what I need with boys 4 and 2. I am stealing the white Hydrangea-in-big-basket idea!

That Chair is fabulous. Except at my place Brooke, I would have a white Charlie Chair here. lol!
I have some little drawers like that in an aged sage green on its way from my Dad soon..can't wait.

Nancy's whole Home is so welcoming. All the surfaces are scrubbed and worn, yet still beautiful. You feel you could pull up a chair and throw your feet up on the nearest stool and not worry about leaving a mark. I love that idea and it is something I hope to replicate for our little makeover. Oh, I am also stealing the White Hydrangea-in-old-wine-barrel idea...ta Nancy!

Beds And Beauty...

image - Lazybones
Today, I have spent most of the day looking at products for the shop (hence the last post), so unfortunately for you, I am showing you some more things that will be in the shop (and gorgeous rooms). Above is a Bed range from Lazybones we will have. This is stunning. I love the room too, beaded boards, iron bed and creamy vintage inspired linen...yum!

This photo is nothing to do with the shop, I just love Nancy's work. I could curl up on the Sofa and have a Nana nap right about now. Oh, we will have those long cushions though.

More Nancy. Her styling prowess in impeccable. I love stone ware and have a small collection, though it doesn't look as lovely as in this antique dresser. Forks etc have to be away at all costs with the two boys about...dart practise (with each other) would not be far away!!

image - Acland
This range is from a New Zealand company, Acland. They have a beautiful range. I am still undecided on this though. I must admit, I have become a fan of a hit of red here and there.

This knot blanket is high on the list of things to order. I just love the photo...French, relaxed with a hint of Vintage...sublime. Ness xx

Glorious Rooms, Beautiful Style.

What an entrance. The room as a whole is stunning, and shows of the balustrade beautifully. I really like the quirky little side table thing next to the chair in the foreground...different.

Country at its finest. I can totally picture this room nestled in an old American Saltbox, complete with a red barn and cute cupola on the roof.

This photo is actually from The Olive Grove Retreat, in Victoria NSW that I have posted on before. Click here to have another look-see. I adore French styling, especially the white, fawn and muted tones they effortlessly put together.

Where does one come by that gorgeous fabric on the sofa? Oh, I LOVE this room. Everything works. I would cover the footstool though in a bleached ticking stripe.

White beaded walls do wonders to old homes, as we have found with our own renovations. It has worked well here too. Lots to love here, the basket, that ice green throw, the carpet/rug, nightlight....Ok, I'll shut up now. Have a great day. xx

A true Master

Introducing (well not really) another of my favourite Designers, Nancy Fishelson.
How can you not love this Woman? Not only does she decorate with my favourite palette of neutrals and white, she also uses a lot of vintage pieces. Most of which you can pick up at an op shop, auction etc. Nancy keeps the scheme calm and unfussy while creating a place the whole family can live comfortably with. She is one of the Masters.
