Awarded...

Hey!
The lovely Jeanette from JVW Home has given me the 'Stylish Blogger' award, which I thought was very sweet of her. I am usually very tardy when it comes to getting back to those of you who give me these awards...sorry for that =0(
According to the rules I am supposed to
•Thank and link back to the person who awarded you. Done
•Share 7 things about yourself. (I have done a few of these posts so I am not sure there is anything you don't already know)
•Award to 10 great bloggers.
•Contact those bloggers and tell them about the award.

1. Some of you have just learnt that I am a Personal/Group Fitness Trainer. I am passionate about this and love to help people achieve whatever it is that they want. I started doing P.T in 1996 and my love has never wained. This is me working a Ki max bag(in the green top) with one of my friends. Love this class.

2. Having said that. I used to Box, as above. This was early in the day and was a outlet for me.

country home
3. I love vintage. I don't do mass produced at all. Not wanting to sound snobby though. I just don't like it. The thought that you can get it anywhere seems pointless to me. That is not developing your own style, which will be timeless to you, that is following the trend...not for me. Give me an old crusty piece to do up or a vintage sheet any day.
4.I am not ticklish much to Mics horror! Oh, wait, my Dad is the only person pretty much who has ever successfully tickled me and can get me every time.
5. I hate peas!! Despise them. Mic always laughs when we have a pie, Chinese anything where there is usually peas, because I will hunt each and everyone out and there will be a neat little pile by the side of the plate. Bad childhood experience!!

6. I hate having someone rub my finger prints. That is the equivalent to dragging nails down a chalkboard (that doesn't bother me though). It just feels wrong and makes the hair on my neck stand up. Even now I am thinking about it it is giving me the creeps. That would be like water boarding for me. We call it "Min-gy printing"-wrong!

7. I can 'smell the taste' Now let me explain. Some of you will know what I am on about. It is when you smell something that reminds you of the taste of something else or vice versa.

yeah, I'm weird!

Now, I can not pick 10 bloggers, so I would like you to copy this award for yourself and let us in on some weird and wonderful facts about yourself. It is like getting to know you away from the interiors side of blog land...go on =0)

New Designs and an award...

Hope all of you Mummy's had a wonderful Mothers Day with your families. I did and was given some very sweet hand made gifts from the boys, although Mason ate the gift he made for me on Friday...never mind!
I did get some sewing done and remember the vintage linen that I made my roll-up blind with? Well I printed I made some covers out of it for the store.
I tried to use some of the ladder stitch and cut work detailing from the linen and incorporate it into the cover. I also printed my first batch of this new floral design I made. It is based around one of my vintage hankies that was given to me by my late Grandmother. On the linen I just printed it in white off to one side and I think it freshens up the look a little. The backs of these covers is my favourite thick white cotton. I have some more of this linen left and will be making some more things up with it for the shop.

I thought I would give a repeated pattern a go and hand mixed this china blue ink for a white cover with my new floral design on it for my Etsy Store. I love it and it reminds me of a beautiful china plate. The print that is originally on the hankie it came from is very small and petite and I love the scale of this new version of mine and may make some for our sofas. As you can see, it looks so fresh on our newly covered sofas.
By the way, the response from the slipcover post has been wonderful and I have had a lot of requests to cover peoples sofas. I am hoping to do a more detailed post with some easy to follow drawings of how I done it as some of you wanted to try yourself and didn't know where to begin. I will work on the drawings tonight after my bootcamp class.

Oh, I received this Beautiful Blog award from Victoria over at Vintage Girl blog. Thank you so much for this award. I really do appreciate getting these and I know the last few I have been given I haven't posted about, but they were lost in the old computer when it died. Just know I do love them all.
Please stop by Vintage Girl and have a look, I am sure you will enjoy Victoria's blog.
...and don't forget to have a look at my Etsy store and the new covers. Let me know what you think!

You Make Me Smile...

Since the problems I have had with our old computer has ended with the purchase of my new laptop, I have lost quite a few awards that some of you gave me. I was extremely thankful for all of them and I am sorry I had not mentioned them before this, but all of my saved photo files had vanished, including the images of the awards and who gave them to me.
This one above was from Obee Designs and I have to tell you all things that make me happy.
This list can change daily, but for the moment, this is what I smile about...

Now there are the obvious things like our boys and my loving Husband, Mic...other than that -
I love our big fireplace in our kitchen and this winter I plan on using it more. Last winter we relied on our reverse cycle heating, but it is not the same. I love changing the displays on the mantel often too and since this photo it has changed a few times. I also love our big clock.

Next is creating...anything. Food for our family, a welcoming home, a beautiful event and little things I come up with on the spot like this canvas which has the La Balloon image I have recently put on a new cover in my Store. These may make there way to the store if there is enough interest.

White bathrooms that don't feature run of the mill fittings and fixtures...and lots of baskets!

While we are on the subject of bathrooms, look what is under the ugly lino in our bathroom!!! Now this makes me smile. I am still working on finishing, but have been very busy with other projects this week, and I promise to show you images as soon as I have it all sorted.

paddington Perspective I think!
Next up is barns. I love them and you would all know by now how much I want one to put on our property to turn into a store, a permanent store. This one in Bowral NSW is gorgeous, but an old one would be perfect for me.

Sewing. Now this wasn't always the case and when I was at school hated sewing with a passion, but since we first moved out of home, sewing just happened and I would make white roman blinds and drapes for the rental house we first lived in to give it the feel it was ours...from there it has taken hold and now I sew everything...literally!
This cover is a new one I have added to my Store.
New friends and inspiration I always get from all of you bloggers and readers. This blog has been a great thing for me and I thank you all for your ever supportive comments and emails. This image above is from Maria over at Dreamy Whites. This is a blog you must look at, you will be amazed...trust me!

Eva Lindh
...and as always, beautiful home wares and styling.
It never ceases to amaze me what some white fabric and old scrubby wood can do...especially when teamed up with Swedish, French and slightly industrial pieces.

Well that is what makes me smile this week and I thank you all for your awards. I am very lucky to have all of you with me on this trip.

Awards...for me???

I have been so slack of late getting around to saying thanks for these wonderful awards I was given a little while ago...sorry!This lemonade award was given to me by the lovely Becca at Front Door Junkin and I am so grateful that you have chosen M&L as one of your recipients, so thank you.
This next award was given to me by 2 wonderful bloggers, Ruth from The Beautiful Life Blog, and Lauren Jade from Blissful Design.
Thank you all so much.
Now I am supposed to pick 10 blogs for each award to pass this on to, that would make 30 I have to choose and seeing I love all the blogs in my side list here...I award it to you all for following me and filling me with inspiration and kind, inspiring comments each day. I thank you all for that so, so much.
Have a great day, Ness xx

Inspired by Glover...

As I usually talk about interiors, you may not care about this post, but I am totally inspired. We had a fantastic weekend. Bought our new handles for the doors, went to the Homespun markets, went to Evandale Markets (and it was packed), and Mic took me to The Glover Prize. This year it was amazing, last year there was a lot of 'what were the Judges thinking' finalists', but this year there wasn't many of those at all. I thought I would share with you some of my favourites from Australia's richest Landscape Art Prize......
Noah's World- Michaye Boulter
Oil on Linen 130cm x 190cm
This is amazing...while Declan and I were standing in front of this, staring at the detail in the waves, they looked like they were moving. Even the detail on the boy is stunning...and those clouds!

The Ever Present Origin - Lisa Falk
Art Raga and Yoga Pencil on Cotton Rag Paper 57cm x 72cm
This one is in my favourite medium...pencil. I truly looked like a photograph. I can appreciate the amount of work that went into this $16,990.00 piece.

Matthew Armstrong - Transformed At Night
Oil On Canvas 122cm x 122cm
This is this years winner of $30,000.00 and a $5,000.00 bronze statuette of Glover himself. A Hobart street at dusk after a rain shower. Great detail!

Stephanie Tabram - Ranalagh Twilight-The Jam Factory
Acrylic on Linen 152cm x 152cm
This is my favourite...hands down!!! My favourite paint medium too. The overall look of this piece is beautiful. The photo doesn't do it justice, but it is another that could be a photo. In the homestead, there is detail in the window - faded lights from another room- and grass in the field that you can make out if you are close. Then you step back and it all comes together. The clouds are stunning. I have a thing for clouds.
Anyway....I LOVED it. Our weekend was great. I got to paint a little table I have wanted to do for a while. We took the kids to the beach two days in a row and found a million crabs for their buckets, had a family BBQ, and generally had a great long weekend.

Thanks!

I feel very privileged to have just received this award from Keri from Antique Therapy.
This is what the award entails...
This blog invests and believes in proximity-nearness space, time and relationships! These blogs aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self- aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!!
What you have to do………
Deliver this award to eight other bloggers who must choose eight more and include this text into the body of their award.
Now, I cannot whittle it down to just 8 so I would love to give it to all who visit Marley & Lockyer and continue to inspire me.
Thank you again Keri.

6 Things I Value...and some awards!

The lovely Judith over at Paris Atelier blog has just given me this award. She has asked me to pass it on to 6 other blogs...they are rules...
1. You have to mention where you got it and tell them you have posted it
2. List 6 things you value
3. Pass it on to 6 other blogs...
My 6 values are,
Our sweet little men, the light of our lives. My Family (including my MIL and FIL) with whom I wouldn't be grounded and I would have no values.
Our Home. I used to draw this same shape house as a child and always wanted one...now we do.

...my talent to create. It is something I was never taught..I have just always been able to do it. I was always shy about it, until I hit 30. Then I realised what a fool I was.

Our 2 ever faith full Border Collies...love them
Grand Architecture. via French Essence

and finally Tasmania...what a fabulous place to live.
I will pass this on to...
Judy at Lily G, because her site is beautiful and her shop is on my to do list.
Brooke at Velvet & Linen, as I am really enjoying her new blog and her emails, and she is a fantastic Designer.
Shannon at Shannon Fricke, a great Stylist with a stylish blog.
Mel at Mels Rose Place, because she is so lovely and her house should be in a magazine.
Anne at Annechovie, her prints are so unique and lovely.
Cathy at Simple Things, Small Joys. Because her little charms and her house are delightful.
I could have picked more, but I think most of you have got it now.
I also received a 'I love your Blog award off Viera at VT Interiors, but for some unknown reason I can't get her site up to save the award...but thank you Viera. Have a great day, Ness xx
