Coastal Beauty...

Digging through the inspiration photos is always something I enjoy doing. Deleting things as I go that don't apply at the moment is like having a huge Spring clean out.
While I was looking I found these stunners. This one above was from Steve Giannetti, this man can design!! (thanks A-M for the fix up). I am loving the loving the light fittings and the silver accents in this room. Of course the Hydrangeas fit right in!
I always enjoy visiting Karnas Hus. This blog is full of coastal chic and this room is beautiful.
I especially love the curtain fabric and the cushions on the white sofa. The addition of white Geraniums is perfect for this room. It reminds me of a wonderful Summer beach holiday.

The always beautiful Whiteport, which is full of lovely things has given me loads of inspiration today though. I am loving the stripe cushions and I have recently purchased some gorgeous French General stripe in a similar colourway which I am hoping to turn into covers very soon. Over the last few weeks I have been thinking of using our big wicker trunk as a coffee table for a change (and to stop the boys dive bombing the sofa from the coffee table!) and this image has made my mind up that I am going to give it a try.

I had hoped to show you the finished kitchen island today, but instead we spent the weekend digging up the back yard with a burst water main and chasing up plumbers...joy! It is coming, I promise =0)

I have nothing...

I have nothing....in a slump!
.....a bloggin slump, but I did love this beautiful room that I spied over at Emma's beautiful blog White & Wander. I am dreaming of this room and a new home right now and I don't think my head is in the game...but I have found some lovely houses on our new home hunt and have been busy gathering images and clippings of the new style I am leaning towards.
Oh, and I am fast gathering items for my virtual yard sale which I will probably do about the middle of June when my Mum will be here to help me out.
back to work!!

Decisions, decisions and HUGE changes!

unknown
Mic and I are having some major things to think about now. Not only am I changing the style of our home, we are changing our home too! We have made the decision to put our house on the market for sale within the next few months and will begin the search for a new home.
from my files
We are still looking for an old home but with the work already done...over renovating. Don't mind having to paint and do small things, but no renovations!
my home ideas
So, as we finish some jobs here at our current home I will be culling a lot of the accessories that you have seen in our home to make way for new pieces for which ever home we buy.

This will include some of my linens that I have long cherished and alot of my French inspired pieces.

Which means I will be having a virtual yard sale here soon!! =0)
I would love to have you all along for the ride as we look for our new home and say goodbye to our cherished house that we thought we would be in forever. I would love to hear your thoughts on all of this as well as the virtual yard sale.

Coastal - my way...

Right now I am loving this simple coastal style, and I don't love it to the letter though. Just elements of it, thrown in with basic elements from my own style. So I have gone through my files and found some beautiful images that explain what it is I love about this.
Obviously I love the clean, pale base of either white or linen walls and slip covered sofas...

but also loads of white linens and ticking stripes. I love to mix antique linens with new linens, but they all have to have that clean, unfussy look to them - like above.

I still love a little a sophistication thrown in there too and this shot is just beautiful. Botanicals, great lighting and some wood thrown in. It just depends on the space and if it needs darker, smooth wood or scrubby wood - I love either.

And of course wicker and sisal mixed with painted white wood. This is what I would like to out into place in our home. Now I am just deciding on what to get rid of and what will work!
A virtual yard sale may be in order!!

Wrap Up Of The Beach House

Today is the wrap up of my dream beach house and the rest of it isn't too hard to explain. They are restful areas and the decor is according.
This bedroom above is just perfect. Huge bench at the foot of the bed, French Doors, loads of feather filled linens and carrying on from the rest of the house is the beaded white walls, sisal matting and slipcovers.
I would however want to put this gorgeous art work of a very tranquil lake across from the bed so we could see it when we woke.

The next photos are from a display home and I would love this seating arrangement to go under the art work across from our bed.

The trunk would go great in the boys dorm-style room for their beach gear.

And last, but not least, a simple bathroom (as I wouldn't want to spend all my holiday time scrubbing!!). This one from the display home would be great. A walk in wet room shower, double basins for us all to clamber about and a concealed toilet (you can just see Declan's arm at the end of the basins) along with a set of French doors so you could access the shower with your sandy feet right from the deck would just finish it off nicely.
unknown...sorry
And of course some sun lounges on a huge deck right of the sand, outdoor shower head and quintessential palm tree for that total beach holiday feel. I hope you all enjoyed the tour of the beach home I will never have...unless I win big. Then I will have a party!!

I am changing...

home beautiful
...decorating style I mean! Don't get me wrong, I love French style still but I am after a cleaner, much more unfussy style and have been drawn to the coastal homes more and more of late. Mic also likes this look so I am planning to introduce some elements throughout our home.
This photo above is just gorgeous and a huge contender for my new mood board. Lots of white, natural textures, ticking, and hints of red, navy and black...nice!
pottery barn
I love this sofa and want our own to be covered in something like this. Maybe a white denim for now while the boys are still small. The navy blue and white floral with the ticking is what I am after.

home beautiful
I know this is outdoors, but the relaxed feeling has me in totally. Natural finishes, greenery against the white and hints of Summer days is in my head for our veranda which will be back on track soon.

unknown
Even the bathroom makeover hasn't escaped this thought process. Beaded walls in white, white floors and simple, beautiful features and fixtures will be going in here.

home beautiful
Maybe it is because we have had such a drab Winter here in Tasmania and I am craving Spring that this style is overcoming me...who knows? All I know is that I am loving it and am going to enjoy sharing with you all what I make of it all.

Screaming Summer...

These images conjure up memories of Summer for me and as it is bitterly cold and raining here at the moment I thought you might like to warm up with me.
source A perfect porch? There is so much here to love for me and I remember playing on my Parents porch for hours, milking every bit of warmth from the Sun before it set.
source
A grassy backyard is always on my list of Summer loves. B-b-q's and Family gatherings and lazy Sundays laying on a blanket with my Sisters chatting was always special.

Seeing people spending time outside, sitting on their front porches and saying hi to all the kids as we rode our scooters along the pavement.
svettol
This doesn't really remind me of Summers past, but future ones.
source
One of my fondest memories of Family time in Summer was being at the Family holiday house at Vincentia, right by the ocean with sunburn (a no-no I know), lemonade Icy poles and smiles all around....ah Summer!
I hope you have all warmed up.

Sleep in...please!

Lexington
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I plan, I say that under my breath, to have a full clean out and re organise of my poor office. It is a mess from all the doors going in as it all got dumped in here! I am going to change it all around and I am quite excited...I know, I need to get out more!!! I would like to paint, but I think that is being a little over ambitious so a clean out will suffice....oh and I would like a sleep in. Do you hear me small people??
What do you have planned?
