Soapstone Love...

My long love of soapstone started while watching Ms Stewart many, many years ago and ever since I have coveted this wonderful material and wanted kitchen benches made from it.
Not only does it looks fabulous, it gets even better with age.
...maybe I could have a soapstone butlers sink too?!
Either way - I love it!

Refinement...+ re listed!

This room is so amazing I had to show you!

I have been making a story board for the new style I am moving towards and there is just something in me that cant let go of the refinement of French Style. I still want the coastal feel that I have been talking about but I don't want the lighthouse ornaments etc but with some refinement. I know what it is, just don't know what you would call it is all.

Here is another gorgeous room. I could easily use this as a base to add the style I am going for. I have been busy however rearranging our rooms as we get ready to sell our beloved home....lots of rearranging. I am getting to the small bits and pieces now and as soon as the rooms are ready, I will give you a sneak peak.

I also have been busy with a makeover project I am sure you will like.

Oh, I have re listed some of my best seller cushion covers on my Etsy Store like this one

My French Love Letter cover and some others like the Keep Calm And Carry On cover and the La Balloon cover too. If you would like to have a look click HERE.

Sarah Richardson, an amazing Designer.

For those of you who have been following for a while, you will know that Sarah Richardson is one of my all time favourite Designers and I have been following her career for many, many years.
The sweet Chania from razamataz has been kind enough to show each stage of her Farmhouse renovation for us mere mortals who can't get this show - that would be me!
I just wanted to show you some of my favourite pieces from this series.
Her kitchen is amazing and now that our kitchen is painted and has hardware, I plan to dress it a little more and this image is laid out like our own kitchen...without all of the style that SR oozes.
I could so see this in our kitchen. Not sure how it would look next to our fire place though.
This is the sort of cupboard conversion we would love in our own bathroom, yep it is still going and we are having trouble getting some replacement boards. Once it is done I will be on the lookout for an old dresser or the like to convert to our vanity. I love the use of the yellow mirror - very cute!

and the yellow tub and curtains. I think I need some curtains....
This bedroom is amazing, but I wont spoil it for you.
You can head to Chania's blog or go to HGTV for a look yourself..or if you are lucky enough, watch.
While you are watching, I will be channelling my inner Sarah to see what I can do in this kitchen of ours =0)

Fancy Friday

Some beautiful photos to welcome in the weekend from the stunning site, Arcobaleno.
This site is full of amazing and inspirational images that will make you swoon.
This particular image I had to show first. I am loving the greys, stone walls, old Aubusson rug, showy chandelier, old mirror...and that cute little house!
This is the kitchen that faces the room above...and that woman is in heaven, on her laptop, but in Heaven still! Imagine the dinner parties you could have in this house. The kitchen has some of my favourite kitchen elements - island bench, little spice drawers and of course, white cupboards.

The dining area is just to the side of the kitchen and the windows frame an amazing view. That table is just lust - big, old wood planks with those gorgeous chairs. I love the chandelier that is above the old, old boards...they make a wonderful pair.

This site has some amazing shots of little drawers - a slight fetish (if you want to call it that) of mine and has me drooling for a store to makeover. This cafe is the sort of place I would love to visit for a latte...I hope you all find a place like this for a coffee this weekend.

Thanks for the 'get up and go'...

Have you ever had a day where you have no 'get up and go'?
Today is one of those days. I have loads of things to do, but just can't be bothered...until I seen this home in one of my favourite places in NSW...the Southern Highlands. This home is filled with things I love. Take the outside for example - box hedges, neutrals with white, French doors, Lavender...
The inside also sports my favourites - natural matting, floorboards, ticking, the glass ball lamp, squishy sofas and loads of cushions to sink into. The colour of the walls is very similar to our own home. This photo has me thinking that now I really want to cover our other sofa in blue and white ticking...in reverse though. What do you think??

Th kitchen is just a s beautiful. Tolix stools, roman blinds- which pick up the ticking on the sofa, wooden blinds, Hydrangeas, green apples in a white bowl. I could have shown you more as the list goes on, but you will have to buy a copy of Home Beautiful and see for yourself!
...off to decorate now!

Ticks all the boxes...

...on my list for our own quest for simplifying, is this beautiful home featured in the current issue of Australian Country Style. This photo in particular ticks all the boxes for me, and I feel I could move in straight away without changing a thing.

I love this part of the kitchen, which is a new add on (not that you would tell) in this 100 year old home. The Tolix stools look so good against that old table, and the reproduction French dresser is divinely authentic looking. I have been after some of those big glass pickling bottles for a while now...gorgeous!

Another recent addition is this sunken entertaining area. The whole recent add-ons have been done on a tight budget, which I am loving...of course!
Big soft sofas, curios from the couples travels and all the things I love- twine, wood, wicker and cushions are plentiful here.

The entrance hall is amazing and the couple had to re arrange the driveway so visitors would use the front door and utilise this space....something we have just done, it's not working with Family though!!
How is this for cheap art?? I LOVE it! An old windmill blade found on the property had to be hauled back to the house, cut down and then they had to figure out how to hang it. This was the owners solution to not having money in the budget to buy a large piece of artwork for the wall...works for me luv!
When I am in Sydney next to see Mum, I am off to Ikea for one of these map canvases for our boys room....it is wonderful and will fill up our huge wall above their beds - or maybe I can dig up a windmill?
Now you see why this home ticks all of the boxes I love. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and make sure you check back on Monday for the amazing Giveaway!!!

I am changing...

home beautiful
...decorating style I mean! Don't get me wrong, I love French style still but I am after a cleaner, much more unfussy style and have been drawn to the coastal homes more and more of late. Mic also likes this look so I am planning to introduce some elements throughout our home.
This photo above is just gorgeous and a huge contender for my new mood board. Lots of white, natural textures, ticking, and hints of red, navy and black...nice!

I love this sofa and want our own to be covered in something like this. Maybe a white denim for now while the boys are still small. The navy blue and white floral with the ticking is what I am after.

home beautiful
I know this is outdoors, but the relaxed feeling has me in totally. Natural finishes, greenery against the white and hints of Summer days is in my head for our veranda which will be back on track soon.

Even the bathroom makeover hasn't escaped this thought process. Beaded walls in white, white floors and simple, beautiful features and fixtures will be going in here.

home beautiful
Maybe it is because we have had such a drab Winter here in Tasmania and I am craving Spring that this style is overcoming me...who knows? All I know is that I am loving it and am going to enjoy sharing with you all what I make of it all.

What is in a dining space?

A dining space is not just somewhere to eat, it is so much more than that. In our home it is where we stop after a long day and share what we have done, the boys play with little cars and tanks and colour abstract doodles and I do paperwork and delve through magazines. Robin Stubbert
It is also another place to show your decorating prowess and this space above has so many elements to create a communal area that is welcoming, stylish and far from precious, a true family space. The chandelier sets off the whole space and gives the outdoor chairs a sense of casual class. The wicker chair and ottoman, beaded boards and neutral palette have created a zone that can meet the needs of a whole bunch of personalities and functions.beach studios
Although this space is small, it still has room to take a small group of people and has an amazing garden view out the French doors. More of a breakfast space to me, I would be happy looking over the Sunday papers here.

Atlanta Bartlett
This space I also love. Simple, casual, welcoming and calm. I love how the little print is picked up in the curtains and all of the white is anchored by the warm wooden floors.

This one, from my files, is my favourite. I love everything here, the French style table, chairs, accessories and the doors. I can picture many things happening here with a family...Sunday roasts, loads of art with the boys, happy conversations looking out the doors on a sunny day, and romantic candle light meals. Now isn't that what a dining area should be about?

Adoring...

...this whole space.
I am hanging this on my mood board tomorrow as it is just perfect. Warm, peaceful, welcoming, lived in and beautiful. The sign is a huge draw card also, along with the white panelling, linen and wood.
Just a quick post tonight as I am painting our French doors ready to go on tomorrow. We have two rooms done already, with the double living room doors going on tomorrow. They look so good! Then I have to try and get them finished off to show you all.

I'm Drawn....

...to everything in this image...
This would be my perfect interior. It has all that I love like the black, not too fussy
Chandelier. The centre island with wicker drawers and white serving ware displayed underneath and the pot rack above it. The awesome range above a chef envy stove. I can't fully make out the flower on the island, but I think it is white Hydrangea's.
The fantastic dining table with Spanish style scrolled legs and a marble top (no gouges from textas here) and paired with beautiful French style chairs that have beautiful white frocks on with just a hint of frou frou in the ruffled bottoms.
I love threes, so am diggin' the Lavenders on the table in terracotta and the clear glass canisters in 3's on the back counter. Let's not forget the lovely soft Linen colour on the walls and the stunning ceiling beams, French doors to wash the space in a warming glow, a beautiful outlook to the lush green garden, stone floors and perfectly laid out...now how do I get this home??
